49ers to fire Chip Kelly

Chip Kelly fired

Chip Kelly fired as early as Monday

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the San Francisco 49ers will be letting go of head coach Chip Kelly as well as general manager Trent Baalke as early as Monday. The team is 2-13 and after firing Jim Tomsula after just one year, appear ready to press reset again.

Team ownership appears ready clean house, with anyone or anything linked to losing getting their walking papers. Colin Kaepernick will be gone, and Kelly now is too. One has to wonder if Chip is reconsidering not interviewing for one of those high profile college jobs.

The Niners are expected to select a quarterback with their first round pick, and the new general manager and coach will certainly have a say in who that is. A number of coordinators are already being rumored to be leading candidates for this opening, such as Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan and Lions offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter.

San Francisco wraps up their season Sunday afternoon hosting the Seattle Seahawks.
