Charlie Strong Fired Today from Texas

Former Texas coach Charlie Strong released a statement shortly after Texas Athletic Director Mike Perin made the news official Saturday. Strong, who ended with a 16-21 mark in three seasons with the Longhorns, was at optimistic as you can be considering the situation. Youc can read it in detail below.

Many expect Strong to take a year off from coaching, and then revisit the coaching landscape in early 2018. As for Texas, it is expected they will formally introduce Tom Herman as their head coach later today. Herman, who advised LSU at 5am this morning he was leaning towards the Longhorns, will be stepping his biggest challenge to date in Austin. Not only will he have to turnaround a Texas team that hasn’t won 10 games since 2009.
