Colin Kaepernick Puts Bay Area Home Up For Sale
In what the 49ers current starting quarterback said is an investment decision, Colin Kaepernick listed his Bay Area home for sale yesterday. CSN reported Thursday that Kaepernick listed his 4600 square foot mansion for sale for $2.895 million, which immediately raised questions about his future with the Niners.
A team spokesman mentioned Kaepernick bought the home for $2.7 million dollars in July 2014, and invested $300,000 in remodeling. Why list a multi million dollar property in the winter, when you will be taking a loss on the sale of the home? I don’t know about you, but it sounds like Kap is preparing for life after San Francisco, which is only a month away.
Colin Kaepernick Home For Sale
Kaepernick is scheduled to make $14.9 million dollars in the 2017 season, however he can opt out of the deal, which many experts expect him to do, to become a free agent. Earlier this year, Kaepernick was almost dealt to Denver, however they could not come to terms on a salary reduction. Denver wanted Kaepernick to restructure his deal, and accept a 2 year, $14 million dollar contract. Kaepernick balked, and stayed in San Francisco. He started the season backing up Blaine Gabbert, however after a month and a half, was reinserted back as the signal caller.
The 49ers will likely look to cut Kaepernick if he does not opt out, and if they do so before April 1st, won’t be penalized with his salary.
