Russell Westbrook had his 7th consecutive triple double Friday night (27 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists) but it wasn’t enough. Former teammate James Harden and Houston beat the Thunder 102-99 Friday, as Harden overcame poor shooting to get his teammates involved. Houston’s MVP candidate finished with 21 points and 12 assists as the Rockets continue to win and sit in the thick of the West playoff hunt.
While one regular season game in mid December will be long forgotten by the time MVP voting comes around, watching both Harden and Westbrook’s game develop before our eyes is fascinating to watch. Westbrook is seriously making a run at averaging a triple double for the season. Harden is easily having the best overall season of his career, eclipsing 2015 when his peers voted him MVP, but the writers favored Steph Curry.
