Lamar Jackson blows Heisman with awful performance
How does someone lose the Heisman Trophy in two weeks? Ask Lamar Jackson. Louisville not only blew a chance to stay in the college football playoff discussions with losses to Houston by 26 and then to your rival Kentucky. The Cardinal were a 27 point favorite in today’s game, and Jackson was poised to put a ribbon on his record breaking season with a decent performance today.
Things went downhill fast after that touchdown. Lamar lost a fumble in the red zone with less than 2 minutes to go, and on the ensuing drive, Kentucky was able to kick a game winning field goal to stun the 11th ranked Cardinals. Jackson also threw 3 interceptions today, which is not the final impression you want to make on voters.
This opens the doors for Baker Mayfield of Oklahoma, J.T Barrett from Ohio State, and Deshaun Watson at Clemson to stake a claim. You may even see Alabama’s Jalen Hurts get a few votes away from Jackson for his steady play as a freshman.
