Yahoo! Sports reports this morning that Florida Atlantic University will name Lane Kiffin their next head coach. It was the worst kept secret that Kiffin was going to leave Bama after the playoffs, and he came close on both the Houston and South Florida jobs.
Reports state that Kiffin never considered the LSU offensive coordinator job, despite his relationship with Ed Orgeron. Ironically, Kiffin will take a paycut for this job, as he is making $1.4 million dollars, and reportedly will earn $600,000 in Boca Raton. Kiffin has worked with three different quarterbacks in the three years he was in Alabama, and made all of them successful. In 2014, Blake Sims led the Tide to the college football playoff semifinal. In 2015, Jake Coker won the national title. His signature moment could happen in a few weeks, when freshman Jalen Hurts attempts to complete the unbeaten season with a second consecutive championship.
Kiffin’s last head coaching job was with USC, where he led the school to mild success early on, only to have things fall apart abruptly.
