New York Jets in love with UNC QB
A number of sources reported late Wednesday that the New York Jets have their eyes on North Carolina quarterback Mitch Trubisky. With three games left in this lost season, Bryce Petty is expected to get the nod to start for the remaining three games. Ryan Fitzpatrick and Geno Smith will likely not return, which opens the door for Trubisky.
There is just two small problems for the Jets. First, Trubisky has not declared for the NFL draft yet. Many mock drafts have him going anywhere from number one to number five overall should he enter. The second is the win against San Francisco Sunday may cost them a chance to pick Trubisky, barring a deal.
If the draft occurred today, this is the current order:
The 49ers and Bears are certainly looking to draft a quarterback, and it is expected Trubisky and Notre Dame’s DeShone Kizer will be both off the board by the time New York is on the clock.
If the Jets really wanted Trubisky, one rumor floating is offering the Jaguars or Browns the rights to Muhammad Wilkerson or a second round pick along with number five overall. Wilkerson has four years remaining on the $86 million dollar contract he signed in the off-season.
