Former Chicago Bears running back and Heisman Trophy winner Rashaan Salaam has passed away at the age of 42. Salaam’s body was found inside his car at Eban G. Fine Park in Boudler, Colorado, where authorities are investigating the potential of suicide.
Salaam had a stellar college career, winning the Heisman Trophy in 1995, after he ran for 2055 yards and scoring 24 touchdowns for Colorado. He was later drafted by the Chicago Bears in the first round of the NFL Draft that year. Salaam would later go on to play for the Browns, Packers, and 49ers before his career ended in 1999.
Football Community Reacts to Rashaan Salaam’s Death
Crazy: Rashaan Salaam is the first Heisman winner of last 55 years to die. Until today, every winner since Ernie Davis (1961) was alive.
