Tom Herman Promises Championships for Texas
It seems like just a few days ago we were mired in the Charlie Strong fired or not soap opera in Austin. Tom Herman was trying to decide between LSU or Texas. The picture is clear, for now. Herman is the guy, and is prepared to turnaround a Longhorns team who ended the 2016 campaign on a three game losing streak, and 5-7 overall.
Herman will be paid rather well to make Texas a winner again.
Texas source confirms Herman will receive a 5-year deal for more than $5 million a year with escalators to over $6M in final year of deal.

If those numbers are correct, that catapults him into the top seven among active coaches. Charlie Strong earned $5.2 million a year during his tenure as head coach.
Herman may have some familiar help coming. According to Burnt Orange Nation, Houston quarterback Kyle Allen is looking to join him as a graduate transfer. Allen has two years remaining of eligibility, and seems to want no part of a new regime with Houston.
