Giants Wide Receiver Victor Cruz spoke out Thursday on the disgusting incident that involved teammate Nikita Whitlock. Whitlock’s home was broken into, and various racial slurs, along with “Trump” and “KKK” were spraypainted on the walls.
“Obviously, unfortunately, you hear about it in places in the South. You don’t hear about that around here, less than 15 minutes away from here. It’s the world that we live in. We have to be able to keep our families safe and make sure that they’re knowledgeable about things like this, and people that react this way, and kinda pray for the best.”
The crime against Whitlock is being investigated as a hate crime, according to authorities. Cruz spoke about how this incident reflects the current society.
“I think that there’s a specific mindset that comes with supporting a guy like Donald Trump, and supporting what he stands for. And there’s a certain type of person that comes with that. And I’m not sure that person is always a positive-minded person.”
