Missed call will cost Vikings Playoff Spot

Vikings Playoff Hopes

In today’s NFL, one play can be the difference between making or missing the postseason. The Minnesota Vikings experienced that Thursday night, when Sam Bradford was mauled in the head by a Cowboys lineman on a 2 point conversion attempt.

Vikings Playoff Hopes Dead?

The Vikings ended up losing the game 17-15, and dropped to 6-6 overall with four games left. More importantly than that, their precious margin of error which afforded them the luxury of being darlings of the league in September is gone. Sam Bradford, who has thrown for over 2600 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, is not to blame. Should the Vikings miss the playoffs (which we predict here), fans could look no further than Week 13. Minnesota had Dallas on the ropes, and failed to take advantage of a golden opportunity to secure a home conference win.

The Vikings next face a Jaguars team desperately trying to get to their post season vacations, and then the real test – home vs. Indy (12/18) and on the road vs. Green Bay (12/24). If they are 8-6 heading to the Packers game, fans should feel good. The first time these two met, it was a battle from start to finish, with the Vikings pulling it out 17-14. Christmas Eve could be a playoff elimination game in the NFC, and if that’s the case, it’s hard to bet against Aaron Rodgers at home.
